The Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Semi-Senior Accountant to join the growing accounts team. Working with a varied portfolio of clients, you will prepare year-end accounts and corporation tax returns, resolve queries and build trusted client relationships.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accountancy practice experience who wants to strengthen their technical knowledge, broaden their client exposure and take on greater responsibility within a growing firm.
Responsibilities
- Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, from client records through to completion.
- Prepare accurate corporation tax returns and ensure submissions meet the relevant deadlines.
- Review client records, identifying discrepancies, missing information and areas requiring further investigation.
- Liaise directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries arising during the accounts preparation process.
- Prepare year-end journals and adjustments, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation.
- Handle relevant correspondence and submissions with HMRC and Companies House.
- Manage your own portfolio of accounts and tax assignments, delivering accurate work within agreed timescales.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide clients with a consistently high standard of service.
About You
You will have at least three years’ experience within an accountancy practice and a sound understanding of limited company year-end accounts and corporation tax. You will enjoy solving problems, working directly with clients and producing accurate, high-quality work.
What We’re Looking For
- AAT or ACCA part-qualified or qualified by experience.
- A minimum of three years’ experience within an accountancy practice.
- Practical experience of preparing limited company accounts and corporation tax returns.
- Confidence using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- A thorough, organised and methodical approach, with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Clear, confident and professional communication skills when dealing with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to raising queries and obtaining the information needed to complete assignments.
