About the Company
Based in Kingston Upon Hull, my client is a well‑established and rapidly growing manufacturing business supplying high‑quality products to customers across multiple industrial sectors. With continued investment in production, automation, and operational efficiency, the business is expanding its finance team and has created an exciting opportunity for a motivated part‑qualified accountant to take on a commercially focused Finance Business Partner role within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
About the Role
This is a progressive, hands‑on management accounting position designed for an ambitious part‑qualified accountant looking to develop strong commercial and operational finance skills. Working closely with both senior finance leaders and operational teams on the shop floor, you will help drive manufacturing performance, support cost control, and influence key business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the production of monthly management accounts, ensuring accurate reporting and clear insight into manufacturing performance.
- Support the preparation of periodic financial statements, including P&L, budgets, cash flow, cost analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform variance analysis against budget and forecast, working closely with production, supply chain, and operations to understand cost drivers and identify improvement opportunities.
- Prepare and analyse monthly KPI reports, such as production efficiency, material usage, labour productivity, and yield performance.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of financial processes, controls, and reporting systems, driving improvements in data accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support the Senior Finance Team on compliance, governance, and internal reporting enhancements.
- Provide financial insight and analysis on ad hoc manufacturing projects, including CAPEX, process improvements, and cost‑reduction initiatives.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an ambitious, part‑qualified accountant eager to progress their career and develop commercial and operational expertise within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
You will bring:
- Active studies towards CIMA / ACCA / ACA (or AAT Level 4 with intention to progress).
- Strong Excel capability and confidence working with large datasets—ideally including manufacturing or operational data.
- The ability to clearly communicate financial information to non‑finance colleagues, including production and operational teams.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
- A proactive mindset with the desire to learn, challenge existing processes, and contribute ideas to improve performance.
This role offers significant development, exposure to senior stakeholders across both finance and operations, and clear progression opportunities within a supportive and growing manufacturing business.
